Edwin the Artist is an artist who creates art that empowers people of the African diaspora. His purpose is to eliminate the stereotypes and misconceptions that have been falsely placed upon our brothers and sisters of African descent.
Edwin was raised in the south suburbs of Chicago. His diverse upbringing has allowed him to have an open mind and deep appreciation for people of all backgrounds. Edwin at an early age quickly understood that he had the ability to emulate what he saw with pencil and paper. While watching Saturday morning cartoons Edwin would often copy and emulate his favorite cartoon characters. He also drew inspiration from his father Edwin, Sr. In order to further develop his gift, he attended Iowa State University and obtained his Bachelors in Art & Design. He is currently creating illustrations for print & web for various local councils such as libraries, churches and other organizations.
